D-I-Y Brown Sugar Face Scrub and Coconut Oil Mosturizer

I am by no means an expert, but this is my second batch of homemade face scrub & moisturizer and I love the results. For the last 15 years I have used the $100+ Mary Kay Timewise Miracle Set (which I love). I decided to try the natural route after seeing the amount of chemicals in today’s beauty products. It worked so well, that I’ve decided to make another batch. Why not? It costs $95 dollars less than my previous face wash set – and this one tastes so good!

I use approximately 6 ounces of the face scrub and 3 ounces of moisturizer per month.

Ingredients:
Unrefined Brown Sugar
Organic Coconut Oil
Organic Honey
Vitamin E capsules

+ For dry skin:
Olive oil
Argan oil

Face Scrub Recipe:
First, pour the sugar in 1/2 – 3/4 of the container.
Mix in approximately 1/4 coconut oil and about a teaspoon of honey.
Once the sugar is fully coated, it becomes a rich caramel brown color.
That’s the cleansing face scrub.

Moisturizer Recipe:
In a 2nd container, mix coconut oil and a few Vitamin E capsules to make the moisturizer.

Cleansing Instructions:
Start with clean hands (avoid breakouts). Wet your face with warm water. Then, with your face slightly upright, spread the face scrub on your face & neck with both hands, in an upwards circular motions.

Wet a washcloth with very warm water and squeeze out excess water. Lay the washcloth flat over your face and allow it to sit there for a minute. This will provide a steam treatment to smooth out wrinkles.

Once the cloth has cooled off, wipe your entire face clean, wetting the cloth again, if needed, to remove all of the sugar scrub. Once face and neck are cleansed, rub your moisturizer into your fingertips to emulsify, and then apply to face while still damp.

Ta-daaa! Your face should feel great. Let me know how it works for you.

Enjoy!
